BIRAC
Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.
E-YUVA
E-YUVA scheme of BIRAC is mandated to promote a culture of applied research and need-oriented (societal or industry) entrepreneurial innovation among young students and researchers. The scheme is implemented through dedicated hubs called E-YUVA Centres (EYCs) housed within the University/Institute set up and mentored by a BIRAC Bio NEST supported bio-incubator. E-YUVA Centre act as a preincubation platform for budding biotech entrepreneur.
Vision
To facilitate and promote bio-entrepreneurship in younger minds from rural and semi urban area for self-empowerment and nation building
Mission:
To encourage young students and researchers to engage in translational research and need-oriented (societal or industry) entrepreneurial innovation through modern scientific practice.
Aims:
The aims of this centre are to do purpose driven innovation by culturing and harvesting existing community information and applying academic knowledge in intradisciplinary research activity.
Scope:
The scheme provides funding support (through fellowship and research grant), technical and business mentoring (through academic and industrial connects), orientation to entrepreneurial culture (through entrepreneurial workshop, seminar and exhibition) and exposure to bio-incubation hub (through networking) to students at various levels including undergraduates, post-graduates and post-doctoral.
